UX Goals - Publishing Task 2

Throughout this semester, my UX Design and CMS skills have steadily improved, giving me confidence as I'm soon to start my CA2. I will have to create a Website and apply my UX design skills. Below you will find how I plan to approach creating this website.

What I'll Build:

For CA2 I'll be building a blog in which I review games similar to that of Metacritic but for video games. I can't just simply throw text at the page though and expect users to remain interested, which is were by UX Design features come in. The two features I plan to use are taken from Receptional and Web Style Guide respectively and are as follows:

  1. Include headings and subheadings for content. These headings and subheadings will allow for the content to be broken up, and make the information look more concise and legible.  The headings and subheadings will also allow me to break the content into a hierachy, allowing user who are glancing through the information, to find what they want to read.
  2. Web Style Guide states how important it is to incorparate features that match with your site. This leads me to include a video of the game being discussed, just as Metacritic includes on their site. This will allow the viewer to get more interativity out of the site as they get to view the game being discussed and get a better understanding of the product.

Why Build It:

For the site, I seek to make a area for people to learn about games, both old and new, and what my thoughts are on them. I will feature comments, allowing people to share their thoughts also on the discussed game, to allow for more of a discussion, which will help increase user activity on the site. The site will be simple and easy to navigate, not requiring major design requirements or a complex navigation system. This article my Merehead I'll be using for inspiration throughout the creation.

How to Build It:

Before I get started on building my site, it's best to research what plugins, themes, and code snippets could help me in creating my site. Here is what I found to help:

Leven - Leven is a perfect theme to set the foundations for my review blog, as it's designed to capture the user's attetion. Though used more for product sites, I'm sure I can develop it to more so be used to display my reviews.

Code Snippets - For the site I plan to use the inclusion of code snippets to help give product descriptions to the games. This video from Ferdy Korpershoek to help learn how to use code snippets successfully.

  1. I have just read Tudor Luca's blog post, he discusses in depth for how he plans to create his site and the UX Design that will be applied. Have a read here: https://cmstud.blogspot.com/2022/11/publishing-task-2.html
